The Bravest Person I Met

This poem is a tribute to every brave person who sacrifices his everything for my safe life. The tribute to every soldier who protects us in every possible way. Be it calamities, war. Everywhere. This is nothing in comparison of their valor but I tried my best.

Far from the world, where the sun set,
There my friend was a soldier I met.
Sacrifice, Honor, Duty,
Were his words,
Wore them his beauty.

He was young,
Youth at its peak,
He left his abode, identity,
Only with tricolor at heart.

He was strong,
Muscled fear and sorrow.
Left the worldly possessions,
For our safer tomorrow.

Suddenly our eyes met,
His were too bright,
I lowered my eyes,
His lowered to none.

His eyes spoke for him,
His companions, Valour and Loyalty,
His blood & flesh were not his anymore,
His life assured, the tricolour would always soar.

Gathering some courage,
My eyes rose,
I questioned him,
"Who are you?"

I'm an Indian,
Born in India,
Born for India,
I pledge my life
And my death,
Maybe that may make me something,
My friend,
I'm nobody, I'm nothing.
Just a soldier, protecting my mother.

And there did I see,
Why were we safe?
He fights for us to be free.
The brave stands there yet,
HE WAS THE GREATEST PERSON I MET.
